This series of illustrations is based on the concept of Đạo Mẫu (The Worshipping of Mother Goddesses), which is one of the original religions in Vietnam. As a person who cherishes my femininity, I feel related to this religion since it is one of the few currently active religions in Vietnam that worships goddesses, femininity, and the Yin. The specific subject matter in all three works is based on Thoải Phủ (The Palace of Water) which is a part of Đạo Mẫu’s system that controls the system of water (rivers and sea); my Feng shui element is wood, which is nurtured by water, so I chose this palace to be the subject matter to create a sense of harmony and growth.
